What to expect for your childs first appointment at Wren Pediatric Dentistry:
Upon arrival into Wren Pediatric Dentistry, your child will be able to play in the reception area and watch one of an assortment of movies.
Your child will then be greeted by Mrs. Stephanie who will in some instances take x-rays of your child’s teeth. She then will brush your child’s teeth with a ‘magic spinbrush’ that gets rid of all ‘sugar bugs’. Dr. Wren will then ‘count’ the teeth and make sure all the sugar bugs are gone.
If treatment needs exist, Dr. Wren will then go thru the treatment plan with you to discuss all available options to complete the necessary treatment.
Preparing for the visit:
- DO treat the day as a "normal day".
- DO use positive words and phrases, such as: "Dr. Wren is here to help you have a pretty smile." This is only necessary if your child is a little anxious or nervous regarding the visit.
- DO NOT mention the words hurt, pain, shot, needle, etc. Seemingly positive statements may not be interpreted as such by your child. For example: "Dr. Wren will not hurt you." He/she may not have been thinking about getting "hurt".
- DO NOT relay your possible fears and anxiety about the dentist to your child.
