- The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends that your child see a dentist when the first tooth appears, or no later than the child's first birthday.
- How do I clean my child's teeth?
- If less than 2 years old, you should simply use a small, soft-bristled toothbrush and water. At some point between the ages of 2 and 3, a small amount of flouride toothpaste should be introduced.
- When should my child start brushing his/her own teeth?
- Usually after the age of three, with careful supervision and re-cleaning by an adult.
- How often should my child see a dentist?
- At least every six months.
- What's the difference in a pediatric dentist and a general dentist?
- A pediatric dentist has 2 or more years of specialized school on top of dental school and limit their practice to infants through adolescent children.
